A magnitude 9.5 earthquake hit Thursday in the Mindanao region of the southern Philippines. No immediate casualties were reported in the incident. The German Research Center for Geoscience (GFZ) reported the information. News of Reuters.
The GFZ said the depth of the earthquake was 5 km (1.5 miles).
The Philippine’s Sismology Agency said no tsunami alert was issued in the incident. Deep offshore earthquakes are less likely to cause damage, but there may be aftershock.
