IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has been appointed for another year

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has been appointed on contractual basis for another year. His tenure was extended in a notification signed by Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration’s contract and foreign wing, on Friday (July 5).

According to the notification, according to section 49 of the Public Service Act, 2018, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has been re-appointed as IGP on a contractual basis on July 18, 2024 or one year from the date of joining, in continuation of his previous contract and on similar terms.

The tenure of IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun ended on January 11, 2023. However, the government retained him in this position even during the 12th national elections

Earlier, the government extended the tenure of IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun by one year and six months from January 12, 2023 to July 11, 2024 through contractual appointment in a notification of the Ministry of Public Administration on January 9, 2023.

After that, the government extended the service period of Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun by another year from July 12 through contract-based appointment again in the second phase.
