Writ seeking direction for submission of asset account of government employees
A writ has been filed seeking directions to submit and publish the account of assets of government employees to prevent corruption. On Monday (July 1), Supreme Court lawyer Subir Nandi Das filed the writ in the concerned division of the High Court. 10 people including Cabinet Secretary, Public Administration Secretary, Home Secretary, ACC Chairman, Bangladesh Bank Governor have been made defendants in the writ. Justice Md. on Monday. The High Court bench of Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain fixed Tuesday (July 2) for hearing the writ. Petitioner lawyer Subir Nandi Das said, “I have submitted the petition to the authorities and published it on the website in accordance with the proper rules mentioned in the Accounting Act of Government Officials and Employees.” This writ will be heard tomorrow. Earlier, on June 23, the law minister said that every government official submits an asset account at the time of entering the service. Later they submit it from time to time. However, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) advises to take account of the assets of the government employees and said that to prevent major corruption in Bangladesh, it is necessary to take an account of the assets of the government employees of the country every year and update it regularly.
