At least 60 Palestinian bodies were found under the rubble after the Israeli army withdrew from parts of Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip, the Gaza Civil Defense Service said. The company informed this information on Friday. News from Xinhua News.

The Civil Defense Service said its crew members had begun recovering bodies from the Tal al-Hawa area and some areas west of the city after the Israeli army withdrew.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement on Friday that its troops launched an “anti-terrorist” operation in the area earlier this week after intelligence indicated that Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters were hiding inside the UNRWA headquarters in Gaza City.

The IDF said in its X account on Friday that it had found a large quantity of weapons in a compound near the UNRWA headquarters.

The IDF also said troops opened a “special corridor” to evacuate civilians from the area at the start of the operation.

Earlier on Thursday, more than 60 bodies were recovered from the rubble in Shujaiya, a suburb of eastern Gaza City, after a two-week Israeli ground operation.

It should be noted that on October 7 last year, the Palestinian independence organization Hamas attacked Israel. Israeli authorities claim that Hamas fighters have taken about 1,200 dead and over two hundred Israeli hostages to Gaza in this attack. In response, the Israeli army launched airstrikes and ground operations in Gaza on the same day. Even after eight months, the attack continues.

The Gaza Ministry of Health said in a statement on Thursday that the number of Palestinians killed in the ongoing Israeli attack on Gaza has risen to 38,345.

According to the United Nations, 85 percent of the territory’s residents have been internally displaced amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine since the Israeli occupation of Gaza. Also, 60 percent of the region’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

The United Nations also says that the Palestinians are living in a humanitarian crisis due to the long-term conflict. In addition, due to lack of food, water, medicine and essential humanitarian assistance, more than 2.3 lakh residents of the valley are suffering from extreme hunger and severe malnutrition.
