The anti -discrimination student movement has announced that the program will continue till the demand for quota reforms. Asif Mahmud, the coordinator of the movement, announced that the blockade will be held again across the country from Thursday (July 7) at 9:30 pm.

Asif Mahmud made the announcement at 7.30pm on Wednesday. He said that the movement will continue until the demand for quota reform is obeyed.

Abdul Hannan Masood, another coordinator of the anti -discrimination student movement, said, “We have a claim that we have to pass the law in Parliament and cancel all types of discriminatory quotas by keeping the minimum (maximum 5 percent) quota for the backward population in all grades of government service.” We will be on the highway until this claim is met from the executive department.

For the past few days, students have been protesting in different cities of the country, including the capital, demanding quota reforms in government service. The common people have suffered in their siege.

In the face of the movement of the students, on October 7, the Rule-1 branch of the Ministry of Public Administration issued a circular by rejecting the quota of the freedom fighter for direct recruitment from the 5th to 5th grade. It was declared canceled by women quota 3 percent, freedom fighter quota 5 percent and 5 percent district quota.

Later, challenging the circular, the freedom fighters and the president of the Central Command Council, Ahidul Islam Tushar, filed a writ petition in the High Court. The High Court declared the government’s circular issued on June 5 after hearing the writ. This returns the quota again in government service.

When the matter appealed, the High Court upheld the judgment on June 5, sent the matter to the Appellate Division bench, the Chamber Justice M. Inayetur Rahim. On July 7, the Appellate Bench said the case would begin after the full verdict was released by the High Court.

On Thursday, the Appellate Division suspended a one -month suspension on the High Court verdict. In response, the protesting students said they would not accept any decisions hanging.

On Wednesday, traffic on various roads including Agargaon, Farmgate, Kauran Bazar, Bangla Motor, Shahbag and Paltan was almost stopped in the capital. This increased the passenger pressure at the Metrorail stations in the capital.
