Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the Padma Bridge had to be built through many storms. Usually when a project is completed there is no completion ceremony. Never done, finished. Padma Bridge has been built with the money of the people of Bangladesh.

She said these things in the chief guest’s speech on the occasion of the completion of the Padma Bridge project at the Padma Bridge on Friday afternoon.

She said, I have organized this program to thank those who are involved with the Padma Bridge, who have given land. It is a ceremony of gratitude and thanksgiving to all.

Sheikh Hasina said, I went abroad without power, when I heard the name of Bangladesh, someone asked, is it a part of India? She used to ask that only cyclones, floods, famines occur in this country. We were considered poor. That was very painful for us. We got freedom in exchange of the blood of lakhs of martyrs. And we will not have dignity as an independent nation, we will not be able to raise our heads and speak, we will not have self-esteem, what kind of Bangladesh is this?

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader presided over it.

Former Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam also spoke on the occasion. The senior secretary of bridge department gave the welcome speech. Manjur Hossain. Shafiqul Islam, Project Director of Padma Multipurpose Bridge, presented the details of the project.

The theme song of Padma Setu was played at the beginning of the program. Besides, a documentary film is shown on the Padma Bridge. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was presented with a memorandum of appreciation by the Minister of Bridges and the Ministry of Bridges at the meeting.
