The people of Iran will vote today (June 28) in the election of the successor of the former president of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash. This time six candidates are fighting for the post of President. 5 of them are extremists. Besides, 2 candidates withdrew. If elected, they have promised economic reforms, reducing inflation and tackling Western sanctions.The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Guardian Council spokesman announced on Thursday (June 27) that 95 countries around the world will vote for presidential elections today. Iranian citizens residing in these countries will have the opportunity to exercise their voting rights. In addition, voters will have the opportunity to vote at 59,000 polling stations within the country.Guardian Council spokesperson Hadi Tahan Nazif said voting will begin at 8 am. Voting will continue for 10 hours as usual. However, the polling time can be extended if necessary. Those voting abroad will also fall under the same rules.Four candidates are competing in this election. These 4 candidates are Masoud Pezheshkian (candidate code-22), Mostafa Pourmohammadi (candidate code-33), Said Jalili (candidate code-44) and Mohammad Baker Kalibuf (candidate code-77).
