MP Anar’s murder: Mustafiz-Faisal on remand
The court granted six-day remand to Mostafizur Rahman and Faisal Bhuia, who were arrested in the case of abduction with intent to kill Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ataullah gave this order after the court hearing on Thursday (June 27).
Before this, the investigation officer of the case, Assistant Commissioner of Intelligence Police (DB) Mahfuzur Rahman brought the accused to the court and applied for a 10-day remand.
Tapas Kumar Pal, for the State, heard for the grant of remand. However, there was no lawyer for the accused. Faisal and Mostafiz were arrested in the remote hilly area of Ramgarh Upazila of Khagrachari district under the leadership of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Detective) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid yesterday.
On the evening of May 12, Anwarul Azim Anar Daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen filed the case at Sherbangla Nagar police station in the capital.
Shimul Bhuiya alias Shihab alias Fazal Mohammad Bhuiya alias Amanullah Saeed, Tanveer Bhuiya and Shilasti Rahman were arrested in this case.
After the remand, they gave a confession statement in the court. Jhenaidah District Awami League General Secretary Saidul Karim Mintu is in jail after remand.
